Open Book Program

Freakonomics chosen for 2007 Reading Program

Georgia Tech's Open Book Program, formerly called the Summer Reading Program, will focus on Freakonomics for 2007's program. More than 60% of student voters chose the bestseller over the other two finalist books. The reading program started in 2006 with Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs, and Steel as a way to enhance the educational experience of freshman students. The newly named Open Book Program has expanded to include all undergraduate students. While discussions will still take place in GT1000 classes, there will be additional events outside of the classroom tailored toward all undergraduate students. Look for guest speakers and student-led discussion panels populating campus as forums for examining the topics presented in Freakonomics.
